Child Development Center
The First Church of the Brethren sponsors the Child Development Center as part of its outreach ministry. The Center is a nonprofit organization which is supported by tuition fees, gifts and congregational funding. The Center is licensed and inspected annually by the Department of Public Welfare.
The primary purpose of the Center is to provide developmentally appropriate care and education for children of parents who are employed outside the home or for children who are in need of a group environment for social development.
The Center provides the children with large spacious rooms in which to play, a full-size gymnasium and plenty of outdoor play space. Meals are provided throughout the day including breakfast, lunch and one snack. For infants and toddlers, diapers, formula and wipes are provided.
The childcare staff at First Church receive regular training in emergency preparedness, fire safety, first aid, CPR and current trends in childcare. The teaching staff average over ten years of experience at the Center.
First Church of the Brethren Child Development Center caters to the care and development of children ages six weeks through young school age children. Admission of children shall be made without regard to race, color, religious creed, disability, ancestry, national origin, age or sex.
Transportation is available to children attending Valley View and East York Elementary Schools in the York Suburban School District. Arrangements can also be made for transportation to St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
