First Church of the Brethren CDC offers an early childhood instructional program, a registered kindergarten, and a latchkey program.
The purpose of the CDC is to provide childcare and education to children from six weeks through school age.
The care shall include:
- safe and healthful physical care and sense of security
- training to supplement home training in habit formation to develop wholesome mental and emotional attitudes
- developmentally appropriate learning
CDC services are in no way intended to be substitutes for the home, nor do they detract from parental rights, responsibilities and relationships. Rather they are:
- part of the Church’s effort to assist parents in protecting and developing their children
- a Church contribution to the welfare of the community by helping to avoid social ills which may arise from insecurity or lack of supervision during early childhood
