Quote
of the Day:
"Are we there yet?!?" - This question was
asked many times on our long walk to our service project.
"You did what?!?" -
Kelsie and Sarah accidentally leaned up against the wall they had just
painted and people could not believe they did it.

Our group had the privilege of attending Ken Medema's workshop, which
was filled with heart-wrenching, impromptu songs from stories shared
by members of the audience
of wilderness experiences .

Our group joined with others to aid others in valuable service projects.

Dianne Hollinger works ardently as the hours pass by.

What shall we do next?

Sarah K. and her long-time friend, Kelsie N, worked together to
refinish an office wall for part of the service project.

Part of the evening worship was a momentous skit denominated
"Jesus or NO Jesus", a spin off the popular gameshow "Deal or NO Deal".

Some of our group during worship-we really enjoyed these services!!!

The PM worship service was so moving that many people afterwards
huddled together for group prayer and consolation.

Journal
Entry:
Today began
with an extra big
breakfast in Corbett cafeteria together as we would be working hard at
a service project later on.
The morning
worship was easily related to everyone in the arena because the
speakers were three Brethren youth that won a special speech contest.
One of them was Jamie Frye, a conference friend of mine!!!! Then we
headed off to small groups, where we continued to familiarize ourselves
with each other and discuss meaningful topics on the Church of the
Brethren and its future.
After small groups, everyone met to
eat lunch together in the cafeteria. College food sure is plentiful!!
Then came workshop time:we were able to
attend part
of a workshop before heading out to service projeccts. Our group went
together to see Ken Medema, a man who is talented enough to compose
impromptu songs based on virtually anything-plus, he doesn't have the
aid of sight to help him in this task!
After this workshop we signed up for service
projects,
where we then walked over to an office right off of campus-one that was
dedicated to guiding people in their spiritual journey. There we
cleaned the garage, worked on the outside terrain, and greatly improved
the rooms inside, as well. By the end, we were covered in dust, dirt,
and many splatters of paint! It felt exceedingly fufilling to help
someone in this way-everyone was very grateful for our work!
We had just enough time after service
projects to wash up and eat a quick dinner.
Worship that night included speaker Jim
Wallis, who
challenged us to open our minds and follow Jesus. The service ended
with a ripple of God's love-Mr. Wallis jumped, and, as his feet touched
the floor, the whole arena began to jump in a ripple affect, all
empowered by the glory of God.
Following late night activities, which
ended at
11:30,we were all immensly tired and ready to go to bed, it was a very
full day!
TTFN!
